Statistics of MCAT 2015

Given below are the statistics of MCAT 2015 in comparison to statistics of MCAT 2014 and MCAT 2013. The data below shows that the merit will fall this year. Now the question is how much will it fall? According to me it will be about 0.5% lower than the previous year (It can be more too). A decrement in merit of UHS means that merit of private medical colleges (which consider MCAT in merit making) will also be lower.

Syllabus of MCAT 2015

Syllabus of MCAT 2015


By now you would have been listening many rumors that syllabus of MCAT has been changed and the merit criteria is also changed. None of these is true. The syllabus and merit criteria would be announced near fsc exams. 

Most probably the syllabus and merit criteria would be the same as that of last year. Yes, there can be a minor changes in the syllabus but not much. So below are the topics which you need to cover for MCAT. The syllabus as posted by uhs on their site is not clear to all so we posted it an easier manner.
Note: This is according to the books of FSC. 

Physics Part One
  • Chapter # 1
    Dimensions are very very important, at least one of them is asked in almost every test including mcat!
    Plus you have to prepare the quantities and their units from here.
  • Chapter # 2
    Topic 2.4
  • Chapter # 3 and 4
    NOTHING
  • Chapter # 5
    Topic 5.6 and 5.11
  • Chapter # 6
    Each and every word (important)
  • Chapter # 7
    Topics 7.1, 7.2,  7.6 to 7.10
  • Chapter # 8
    Side box on 2nd page, topics 8.3 + 8.11, table 8.1 + audible frequency range's table (important)
  • Chapter # 9
    Topic 9.3 to 9.5, 9.8,9.11, 9.12
  • Chapter # 10
    10.1 to 10.4, 10.8 to 10.12 (Numericals are important)
  • Chapter # 11
    From start to 11.4, 11.8 and 11.10 (Numericals are important)


P.S. Do all the numericals and examples of these topics and blue boxes related to them and its nothing as compared to whole book!!

    From the start to the levels of biological organization (i.e. upto living world in space)
    and then topic of biology and service of mankind.

    Complete as in each and every word, it’s a very important chapter!


  • Chapter # 4
    Structure of a generalized cell. Only following sub-topics:
  1. Nucleus
  2. Endoplasmic reticulum
  3. Golgi apparatus
  4. Mitochondria
  5. Centrioles
  6. Ribosomes
  7. Prokaryotic and eukaryotic cell

  • Chapter # 5
    From Life cycle of bacteriophage upto hepatits!
  • Chapter # 6
    Structure of bacteria (except respiration, growth and reproduction of bacteria)
    importance of bacteria
  • Chapter # 7
    Importance of algae, 
    Fungus-like protists
  • Chapter # 8
    Zygomycota (Life cycle of rhizopus, fig 8.8), 
    importance of fungi
  • Chapter # 9
    Economic importance of:
     Cassia, Solanaceae, Gramineae
    Do learn the biological names, from animalia and plantae kingdom mostly biological names are asked or it is given and you’r asked the common name, ONLY from the MENTIONED topics
  • Chapter # 10
    From start to coelomates 
    and then,

    Porifera: only thing to remember is the name of organisms in this phylum. A question might come asking what is the characteristic of this animal (belonging to porifera) just keep in mind its regeneration capability is maximum, it can grow even from a single cell!!

    Cnidaria: again names and coral reefs

    Platyhelminthes: names *_* that is examples Dugesia, Fasciola, Taenia and infestations and disinfestations

    Aschelminthes: names of given examples + importance(parasitic diseases)

    Arthropoda: Economic importance

    Don’t learn the examples or anything about any other phylum! Just behave as if dey don’t even exist :D
  • Chapter # 11
    Complete

    Mainly questions are like how many moles of ATP are produced in glycolysis or this,
    how many are utilized, what is the net result, bla bla
    in ETC, final electron acceptor is?
    Like this
  • Chapter # 12
    Digestion in man, though diseases are not mentioned yet I did them last year :D choice is yours!
  • Chapter # 13
    From respiration in man upto end of the chapter!

    *to be on safe side, I know a few topics ain't mentioned in syllabus, don’t panic*
  • Chapter # 14
    Structure of heart upto blue babies

    lymphatic system

    Immunity *muft k number*


Biology Part 2

  • Chapter # 15Concept of homeostasis, excretion in human
  • Chapter # 16
    Human skeleton upto movement of bones
  • Chapter # 17
    Biological clock and circadian rythms, 
    Only neurons (leave the rest), then Human Nervous system (complete topic), and emm chemical coordination upto the last hormone!
    Do take a look at the table after this of comparison between chemical and nervous coordination
  • Chapter # 18
    Reproduction in man (each and every word upto the very last word)
  • Chapter # 19
    Nothing ^_^
  • Chapter # 20
    From chemical nature of DNA upto the end of chapter (to be on a safe side, u can leave what is a gene and one gene one polypeptide topic if u want to)
  • Chapter # 21
    Complete, the meiotic errors are v.v.imp
  • Chapter # 22
    Sex determination upto diabetes mellitus 
    + definitions of:
    Mutations, Epistasis, Gene, Allele, Multiple allele, Pleiotropy.
  • Chapter # 23
    From recombinant DNA technology upto gene sequencing, 
    Transgenic animals(cloning too), gene therapy

    Inheritance of acquired characteristics

    Evidences of evolution ( comparative anantomy and embryology and fossil record)

    Man’s impact on environment upto the last topic bus! :D
